Chapter one: Featherweight
It's been so long. my internal clock tells me that it has been over 200 trillion years. The ship's computer seems to agree with me. I would be dead by now had it not been for the computer supplying me the solar energy it's been collecting. I am grateful for the scientists who created this ship and myself, if they hadn't made the ship smart enough to seek nearby stars we would have long perished with that first star we orbited. I seem to be in a bit of a predicament however. I am still connected to the ship, but only through one port. The other cable connecting me to the ship has come loose. I would reconnect it, bu

I reached up and stroked his face again. The computer made a nice companion, but I couldn't touch her. we could only talk. This is completely different. It felt so good to be in his arms. Everywhere he touched her felt great. He doesn't seem to enjoy my touch as much as I enjoy his though, he seems tense. He's trying not to touch me in any way that isn't necessary, that's boring. I wish he would touch me more.
Once again I'm grateful to the scientists who created me for granting me with a sense of touch. Without it I could never feel this blissful.
"Which way?"
I was startled by his sudden question. "Huh?"
"You were

Mars placed me into the electronic wheelchair we had salvaged from the S.V. Starlan. I prolonged my hold onto his hand and gazed into his face. This was my first time seeing him without his bulky spacesuit on, now I could clearly see the blazing red hair hanging loosely around his face, which served to make his green eyes seem more vibrant than ever. It looks like the artificial gravity had done a great job of staving off muscle loss, as they were easily visible through his gray and white flight suit. I need to get a good feel of them. Tonight I'll sleep with him, I'll be able to absorb plenty of physical contact then.

As expected the evidence closet was dark. Fortunately I can see in the dark better than any human, but this place too dark even for me. The door was sealed in such a way to let absolutely no light in. I felt around in the darkness, looking for anything. It feels like I've been placed on one of the middle racks, not in a box like almost everything else. This suggests that they plan to take me out in the near future. Probably to give me a proper inspection. There will be no way to avoid exposure then. Hopefully the one inspecting me will be that kid from earlier. My plasma cutter was intended to be used for working on ele

The hours passed too quickly and soon enough Mars woke up. This isn't a problem though, for I love Mars just as much in his wakefulness as in his sleep. He smiled, and we kissed again.
Mars was safe now. It's time for some answers. After some time passed, I asked "They didn't hurt you did they?"
He responded. "No, they just asked me some questions is all. They wanted to know why our communications system was turned off."
I cringed at this statement. It was my fault.
"Of course I didn't have an answer. I managed to avoid being labeled as a criminal, but..."
He paused. the meaning of the pause perplexed me, was ther

When next my consciousness returned, I found myself back in Isaac's lab. I hadn't really gone unconscious, I'm not designed to do that. Something had caused me to go temporarily offline, most likely by interfering with my power flow. The cause was obvious: that thing inside me.
A shame I had to wake up to Isaac's detestable voice rather than Mars's. "You know, you really should be careful what you eat," he said to me, apparently on the verge of laughing out loud. "I saw the sphere on the scan, at first I was quite hurt to think you'd attempt to steal from me," He made a horrible gesture, placing the back of

MARS;
I had only been awake for about a week before I found Phi. I was devastated at first when I saw the system clock had overflowed. I wanted to deny it, to believe the clock was wrong. I didn't want to believe I had just lost my family, my career, everything to a petty computer glitch. What I found upon the spaceship crushed any hopes I might have had, while at the same time giving me something new to live for. The technology aboard the ship marked "S.V. Starlan" was amazingly alien, yet I knew it had to be human. That was where I met Phi, and though we've only known each other for a couple days, she means eve

I have no choice. I can't just let them die down here. "I've got to go find them."
"You really don't have to, even if they don't come back you probably won't be held accountable. People disappear in this area all the time."
I didn't care about the three any more than Marianne, but I didn't want three people to die on my first job, it'd be a really bad start.
"Just let him go," Bear's voice thundered, "If another peace keeper dies, all the better for us."
"But he's different, I told you already!"
Marianne protested against Bear's prejudice, but I interpreted that statement not as an insult but as a challenge t

PHI;
This is my fault. Mars was put in danger because I allowed him to leave my side. Unforgivable.
It's night. About twenty-four hours post-operation. The gash in my stomach is healing nicely, and I'm currently "sleeping" in Mars's protective arms. But I'm not the one who needs protection. Humans are fragile, therefore I must make sure Mars is never put in a dangerous situation again...
In the morning I went to Isaac's lab of my own accord, which was a rare occurrence. I normally only see him when he wants me, considering I despise him and all. I need him now though.
